The Metro Hotel On The Highway To Hell
The Metro Hotel Canning Highway, South Perth has been around for as long as I can remember.
This, acrylic painting, may or may not outlast the building, but it will certainly stir nostalgia in those who know this highway.
This particular building, takes me back to many memories, spending my childhood visiting my grandfather around the corner and then later in my 20s not far from friends, plenty of wonderful lifelong relationships established.
Mostly though I chose to paint the scene as it features a bunch of things that appeal to me, a grafitti tag on the wall, a lifelong desire to paint power lines and a beautiful creeping rose in the foreground to contrast.
The vibrant red and yellow contrast nicely to the sky blue allowing what is quite a “bland” subject to really come to life.
